ABOUT Utahime Iori / 01—0601First appearance and background
Utahime enters Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen with Kyoto’s delegation to the school exchange event. Her first appearance was serialized in 2018 and later collected in volume 4. A teacher at Kyoto Jujutsu High and a semi-grade 1 sorcerer, she accompanies her students to Tokyo and manages the friction between strong personalities at both schools. The main manga began serialization in March 2018.
02Personality and appeal
Utahime’s seriousness feels practical. When students clash, she intervenes and expects them to show some restraint. Gojo’s deliberate teasing is another matter, and her composure quickly gives way to exasperation. The shifts in her face and voice give her scenes their energy. Her formal appearance does not prevent her from expressing annoyance; patience, responsibility and a definite temper coexist.
03Story journey
[Spoilers: anime season 1, episodes 18 and 21] During the exchange event, Utahime wants to retrieve the sleeping Kasumi Miwa from a forest where curses roam. When trouble becomes apparent, she hurries toward the students. At the next day’s baseball game, she wears a uniform and enthusiastically calls out from the sidelines. The two scenes show both her concern for their safety and her investment in their everyday competition.
04Relationships
[Spoilers: anime season 1, episode 14 and character relationships] Gojo is Utahime’s junior, whose lack of respect repeatedly irritates her. Yet when he asks for help investigating a possible information leak within the schools, she cooperates. She is close to another junior, Shoko Ieiri, a friendship also shown in Hidden Inventory / Premature Death. Her contrasting relationships bring out different sides of her personality.
05Versions and visual identity
The visual reference here is the adult teacher from the main-story anime. ABEMA, citing the official fanbook, lists her as 31 at this stage. Part of her long dark-indigo hair is tied back with a white ribbon bow. Below her brown eyes, a broad healed scar extends from her right cheek across her nose. A white wide-sleeved top, deep-red hakama and brown ankle boots form her formal silhouette. Hidden Inventory / Premature Death depicts an earlier design; this page follows the adult main-story model. Page illustrations are unofficial AI-generated fan art based on the anime design.
06Fan interpretations
[This page’s original fan reading] Utahime makes reliability feel compatible with irritation. She can take offense or become absorbed in a game while still caring about whether her students are safe. Her expressive face against the orderly lines of her clothes makes that tension especially appealing: a formal silhouette contains someone with preferences, a temper and a serious commitment to looking after others.
