ABOUT Yui Shiromaru / 01—0601First appearance and background
Yui appears in Makoto Ojiro’s manga Insomniacs After School. Her manga appearance dates to 2019: Shogakukan’s December coverage of volume 2 already names the club alumna Shiromaru, within the series’ launch year. She enters the story as a school graduate, a different life stage from Isaki.
02Personality and appeal
Quiet does not mean uncaring. Voice actor Haruka Tomatsu describes Yui as reserved, gentle and sincere, and emphasizes her many moments of advice. This is the performer’s reading of the role; it highlights a dependable presence whose warmth needs few words.
03Story journey
Anime spoilers: Ganta and Isaki visit Yui at the arcade for help establishing their club’s activities. Before summer camp, she notices Ganta’s improvement and encourages him to photograph what moves him. Her guidance connects technique with personal attention.
04Relationships
Ganta and Isaki are her juniors in the same school club. Kurashiki directs them to Yui, linking the graduate with its renewed activities. Yui contributes photographic experience, while Kurashiki is the school’s club adviser. Their support comes from different roles.
05Versions and visual identity
The visual reference is her everyday design in licensed 2023 anime merchandise: tousled pale-silver hair, a dark choker, cream hood, striped sleeves and black apron. Her post-graduation identity is retained; manga and anime coloring are treated separately. This page’s illustrations are unofficial AI-generated fan art, not manga originals, anime frames or official promotional images.
06Fan interpretations
Fan interpretation: Yui can be read as a link between the club’s past and present. Experience gained through her own interest becomes something she can share with newcomers. This is one reading of her role, not an exclusive author-declared theme or a claim that her life revolves around the protagonists.
