ABOUT Hana Uzaki / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Hana and Take’s manga trace back to 2017, before the first Japanese collected volume appeared on July 9, 2018. Short comics on the creator’s social account preceded serialization, so the book’s release is not her debut. The official anime biography introduces her as a 19-year-old second-year university student who knew Sakurai through their high-school club. Her belief that he needs company keeps bringing them together on campus.

02Personality and appeal

She acts on the mood of the moment and often delivers concern through teasing. Mild spoilers for season-one episodes 2–3: Sakurai ends up helping with her report at the café; when he later falls ill, she nurses him, and their group celebrates his recovery over barbecue. These incidents let her be both the person asking for help and the person providing it. Her loud confidence leaves room for practical care.

03Story journey

Anime spoilers: season-one episode 7 pairs a cat-café outing with Hana’s twentieth birthday, so the biography’s age of 19 is an introductory setting. In season-two episodes 3–4, a stamp-rally prize draws her and the initially reluctant Sakurai to their university festival. A fortune-telling result makes her convinced he likes her, yet she is still nervous. Familiar outings begin raising questions that their usual banter cannot easily answer.

04Relationships

Sakurai prefers quiet time, while Hana keeps inviting him into her busier rhythm. Ami, the café owner’s daughter, is a fourth-year student at the same university and enjoys observing people; she and her father watch the pair with interest. Sakurai’s friend Itsuhito Sakaki also takes an interest and supplies the festival stamp-rally tip. Their everyday circle gives Hana companions who observe, advise and occasionally help an outing happen.

05Versions and visual identity

The manga began in 2017; the first TV season followed in 2020 and season two, ω, in 2022. This profile selects the official university casual outfit: a gray-brown bob with a darker nape, blue eyes, a blue zip hoodie over a pale T-shirt, a navy pleated skirt and a brown backpack. Dark hood lining and striped ribbing complete the look. It is a particular everyday outfit rather than a school uniform or her only costume. 06Fan interpretations

Fan interpretation: Hana’s repeated invitations can be read as turning ordinary time into shared memories. Reports, cat cafés and festivals become familiar rituals through doing them together. A production detail predates the TV series: the 2018 first-volume campaign included a chapter-one voicecomic and an Earth Defense Force 5 gameplay video, featuring Naomi Ohzora and Kenji Akabane as Hana and Sakurai.
