ABOUT Kobeni Higashiyama / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Kobeni first appears in chapter 10 of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga in 2019. She is a 20-year-old rookie in Public Safety Special Division 4. Her family pushes her into earning money to support her brother’s university education. That pressure gives her dangerous job a practical, troubling context: survival and a paycheck matter more to her than a heroic calling.

02Personality and appeal

Being physically gifted does not make Kobeni fearless. Her official profile places reserve beside agility, and the anime moves between hesitation, alarm and sudden precision. At her introduction she names good food as her hobby while keeping her contracted devil secret; official character information leaves that identity unknown. Those details leave room for mystery without erasing her ordinary wants: a little comfort and satisfaction in an unpredictable working life.

03Story journey

Early-anime spoilers: trapped on a hotel’s eighth floor in episode 6, Kobeni turns on Denji in fear. During the attacks in episodes 8–9, Arai protects her; she subsequently fights back and rescues Denji from his captors. The rescue does not erase her earlier conduct. Together, these events give her a difficult place in the team: someone who can endanger a colleague and also become the person who saves him.

04Relationships

Himeno mentors Kobeni and Arai and recognizes ability beneath Kobeni’s reserve. Arai is both a fellow recruit and her partner: he tries to reassure her in the hotel and later protects her during the attack. Denji is another rookie colleague whose connection with her includes conflict and rescue. Shared duties, reliance and mistakes give these workplace relationships their weight.

05Versions and visual identity

The chosen anime design has dark-brown hair in a short low ponytail, two red clips on her left and a long lock on her right. She has brown eyes and four moles: two below the outer left eye and one beside each side of her mouth. Her dark business pantsuit, white shirt, black tie and gray-white lace-up sneakers appear in both TV and Reze Arc art. Karin Takahashi voices her. 06Fan interpretations

Fan reading: Kobeni can be understood as a capable worker with little room to feel safe. The contrast between alarm and skill creates dark comedy while suggesting that competence cannot guarantee security. A concrete fandom curiosity: the third official poll in 2025 placed her 13th with 18,950 votes, while her car reached 19th. Those are votes, not a count of individual fans.
