ABOUT Mihari Oyama / 01—0601First appearance and background
Mihari Oyama is a researcher in Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister! and the person responsible for the protagonist’s physical change. The original work has been published since 2017, and the anime aired in 2023; her youthful appearance contrasts with her role as a researcher.
02Personality and appeal
She is bold and confident in her research, yet fusses over many small matters when caring for Mahiro. Knowing how to conduct experiments does not mean she always has the right answers to interpersonal problems; worry and awkwardness are also parts of her personality.
03Story journey
Through an experiment, she tries to change Mahiro’s formerly secluded life, then continues to observe and care for Mahiro’s changed daily routine. As the story progresses, she also gradually learns to understand the choices Mahiro wants to make independently of her research plans.
04Relationships
Mahiro Oyama is her older brother, and Kaede Hozuki is her friend. Mihari is both an experimenter and a younger sister; she should not be mistakenly described as Mahiro’s mother or older sister.
05Versions and visual identity
Her light-colored hair, hair clip, and the lab coat she wears while researching are distinguishing features. She also wears ordinary casual clothes, so not every portrait needs laboratory equipment; both a serious explanation and a worried hand-to-forehead gesture suit reaction images.
06Fan interpretations
A point of fan amusement: she can handle complex experiments but may struggle with an ordinary bout of sulking from her older brother. This is a contrast in the work’s family comedy, not a suggestion that her research ability is fake.
