ABOUT Hestia / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Hestia is a goddess in the light novel Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, first officially published in 2013, and initially formed a very small Familia with Bell. This page draws on the published novel and her recognizable appearance in the anime; the anime’s 2015 date does not replace the novel’s publication date.

02Personality and appeal

She shows her concern for Bell openly and works hard to cover the Familia’s living needs and expenses. Beyond jealousy and everyday comedy, she is willing to take responsibility as both a caregiver and a goddess; the character cannot be reduced to a clothing gag.

03Story journey

As the Familia gradually becomes involved in larger events after its initially straitened circumstances, she must support its adventurers while navigating relationships between gods and Familias. Being a goddess does not mean she can use all her divine power in the dungeon without restriction.

04Relationships

Bell Cranel is an original member and someone she cherishes; Hephaestus is an important friend, while Liliruca and others are part of the circle of companions associated with her later. A Familia is not a family related by blood, and Hestia is neither Bell’s biological mother nor his confirmed wife.

05Versions and visual identity

Black twin-tails, blue eyes, and a white-and-blue color scheme are identifying features. This page instead uses a fully covering white shirt and blue vest; portraits can show her concentration while doing accounts, her happiness when encouraging companions, and her frank flashes of temper, preserving her everyday energy.

06Fan interpretations

Fan interpretation: Her presence gives the place adventurers return to a tangible everyday life. Small things such as a room, work, and a meal make the Familia not just a fighting organization but also a place where its members support one another.
