Nobume Imai
Gintama ↗ / 2011
A deadpan stare, exact swordsmanship and a weakness for doughnuts give Nobume a quiet comic contrast. Her deeper story is about finding human bonds after being raised as a weapon.

Nobume enters Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama during the Baragaki arc as vice-commander of the Mimawarigumi. Aya Hirano voices her in the anime. The Mimawarigumi and Shinsengumi are separate forces, despite her repeated encounters with Okita.
She speaks sparingly and barely changes expression, yet acts with decisive speed. Ordinary preferences such as doughnuts give her dry humor without erasing her dangerous training; the contrast is more specific than a generic cold-but-kind label.
Trained by Naraku under the name Mukuro, she later serves beside Isaburō Sasaki in the Mimawarigumi. The Farewell, Shinsengumi arc reveals more of their past and gives her name and decisions an emotional context beyond her sword skills.
Isaburō Sasaki is her superior and a crucial protective figure, not her biological father. Sōgo Okita is a rival in combat and banter. Shōyō Yoshida and Oboro connect to her Naraku past; rivalry or shared history should not be relabelled as confirmed romance.
Long dark hair, blunt bangs, a white Mimawarigumi uniform and sword identify her. The child called Mukuro and the later Nobume are different stages of the same person; this page’s artwork uses her later uniformed appearance.
Fan reading: her small everyday pleasures matter because her emotions are so guarded. Reading the story as recovering a name and a place to belong is persuasive, but it does not establish an unshown family origin or romantic future.
