ABOUT Riho Tsukishima / 01—0601First appearance and background
Riho Tsukishima appears in chapter 1, “Familia,” of The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses, whose serialization began on February 17, 2021. She is one of the five employees welcoming customers in the opening scene. They share a home at the seaside café and regard its former owner, Sachiko, as family. When Sachiko dies, her grandson Hayato Kasukabe returns intending to demolish the building, putting their life together at risk.
02Personality and appeal
Riho’s strongest skill is dealing with people. She takes the lead in serving customers and keeps Familia lively, sometimes with a mischievous joke. That sociable manner is only part of her character: she is deeply invested in being needed and can push herself too hard. Her fondness for fortune-telling adds a small, playful detail to someone who spends so much time noticing the people around her.
03Story journey
Story spoilers: Riho was once a celebrated child actor. In anime episode 9, “Riho and Her Past,” she recovers after Hayato’s quick response when she collapses from heatstroke. Familia’s busy seaside outpost attracts a television crew, and a director recognizes her. The encounter brings out a history she has kept from the others, giving a more personal context to the familiar smile she shows customers.
04Relationships
Relationships and mild spoilers: Shiragiku is both Riho’s coworker and a student at the same university. In anime episode 6, seeing Shiragiku chatting warmly with Hayato in the kitchen leaves Riho with feelings she cannot quite explain, and a toasted-sandwich contest follows. Rivalry in their shared home can emerge through an ordinary meal. Riho’s customer service and Shiragiku’s cooking also show how their different strengths contribute to the same café.
05Versions and visual identity
Riho originates in the 2021 manga and is voiced by Aya Yamane in the television adaptation. This page uses her early Familia design: orange-brown hair tied at both sides, green eyes, a white frilled headpiece and a blue-and-white striped dress. A white apron, fastened collar, small dark bow, tights and closed shoes complete the café uniform. The images on this page are AI-generated unofficial fan art based on that design.
06Fan interpretations
Riho has a documented place in the manga’s reader activity: ORICON’s September 10, 2025 report lists her fourth in the sixth heroine popularity poll. That is the result of that particular Weekly Shonen Magazine event. A fan reading worth exploring links her teasing with her attentive service: making others happy and wanting to be needed can pull in the same direction, making the moments when she overextends herself especially revealing.
