ABOUT Chii / 01—0601First appearance and background
Chii comes from Chobits, which CLAMP began serializing in 2000. She is a humanoid computer with a human appearance; her mechanical ear-shaped parts should not be mistaken for ordinary animal ears.
02Personality and appeal
At first, she expresses herself with very few words, gradually learning about the world and what others mean. Her innocent demeanor is tied to her unusual identity and should not be used to invent a real human age or family background for her.
03Story journey
As Hideki lives with her, their experiences involve language, work, and emotional understanding; her unusual background is revealed later. The scope of spoilers should be stated before discussing key details of the system.
04Relationships
Hideki Motosuwa cares for Chii and forms an important bond with her, while Freya is connected to Chii’s identity and background. The creation of humanoid computers and the relationships between them must not be arbitrarily recast as ordinary human blood ties.
05Versions and visual identity
Her long, pale-blond hair and white mechanical ear parts are distinguishing features. For portraits, use a fully covering pink high-neck outfit; reaction stickers should focus on curious head tilts, earnest imitation, and subtle happiness.
06Fan interpretations
Fan interpretation: Chii’s process of learning to express herself also prompts others to reconsider what affection and companionship mean. This concerns the work’s themes, not a real-world technical account of humanoid computers.
