ABOUT Miyu Suzuki / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Miyu Suzuki first appeared in Kocha Agasawa’s You and I Are Polar Opposites one-shot on Shonen Jump+ on January 7, 2021. The serialization that began on May 2, 2022 expands her school-life romance with Tani. Used to reading the room, she is drawn to a classmate who expresses his own views without changing them to please others. Classroom chatter and the walk home give their contrasting ways of relating a shared space.

02Personality and appeal

Being lively does not make Suzuki confident about revealing what matters to her. Around Tani, casual chatter becomes a way to cover her nerves: she wants to get closer, yet worries about everyone noticing. In volume 1 she finally asks him to walk home together. The small invitation matters because it turns a private wish into an action. Her expressive reactions and hesitation make that effort feel immediate and recognizable.

03Story journey

Mild spoilers for volumes 2–4: after Suzuki and Tani confess and start dating, learning to be together remains the story. Volume 2 brings less polished everyday encounters and complications from earlier relationships. Volume 3 includes planning a birthday date and sorting out what liking someone means. On the Kyoto school trip in volume 4, Suzuki wrestles with how she wants Tani to see her. Her growth continues through ordinary exchanges after the confession.

04Relationships

Mild relationship spoilers: Tani becomes Suzuki’s boyfriend, but understanding each other does not require them to have the same social rhythm. Her school life also includes distinctive friends. Sato is composed and dependable, bringing an outside perspective to the group’s romances; Watanabe is cheerful and says what she thinks. The school trip also develops Nishi, Yamada and Azuma’s concerns, placing Suzuki’s relationship among classmates with lives and uncertainties of their own.

05Versions and visual identity

This page uses the summer-uniform design from the official 2026 TV anime. Suzuki has long pink hair gathered into two small half-up buns, a straight fringe, golden yellow-green eyes and pink heart-shaped ear jewelry. Her white sailor blouse has navy collar and cuff bands, with a bright lime scarf held by a pink tab. A navy pleated skirt, dark socks and pink-and-white trainers complete the look. The vivid colors suit her open gestures and animated expressions. Page illustrations are unofficial AI-generated fan art based on the anime design.

06Fan interpretations

Original fan interpretation: Suzuki’s story can be read as practice in belonging without hiding what she wants. Admiring Tani’s independence does not mean she must become as quiet as he is; her liveliness can coexist with sincerity. From the invitation to walk home to her worries during the school trip, watch for the moments when she replaces guessing with conversation. This reading follows her choices rather than presenting an exclusive theme declared by the author.
