ANIME OOTD / WORKS

A Silent Voice

Yoshitoki Ōima’s manga follows Shouko Nishimiya and Shoya Ishida from classroom bullying to a difficult reunion. Communication, bystander responsibility and rebuilding connection shape its ensemble. Kyoto Animation’s 2016 film uses sound, sign language and framing to express isolation; the one-shot, serial and film differ in scope.
