Michiko & Hatchin

The 2008 original anime Michiko & Hatchin takes place in a fictional setting inspired by Brazil and other places. Michiko, who has escaped confinement, and the child Hatchin search together for someone connected to the past. Their journey revolves around freedom, care, and promises, as an adult’s impulses repeatedly clash with a child’s need for safety. Its place names and institutions should not be treated as a real-world travel guide.
