ABOUT Yui Ichii / 01—0601First appearance and background
Yui Ichii is a lead in Komata Mikami’s Yuyushiki, which began serialization in 2008. In the Data Processing Club with Yuzuko and Yukari, she often points out the logical gaps in their wandering conversations.
02Personality and appeal
Her responses are brief and direct, and she does not join every joke. Despite sounding put upon, she keeps spending time with her friends; that contrast reveals more than simply calling her cold.
03Story journey
Looking up words and revisiting trivial questions form much of her everyday story. Her relatively grounded perspective gives Yukari and Yuzuko’s sudden associations something to bounce against.
04Relationships
Yukari is her childhood friend, and Yuzuko is a close classmate and clubmate. Chiho Aikawa shows particular fondness for Yui, but descriptions should distinguish depicted interactions from further interpretations of those feelings.
05Versions and visual identity
Her blonde bob and restrained expressions contrast with the other leads. Minami Tsuda voices her in the 2013 TV anime, and the 2017 OVA continues their everyday interactions. New site artwork does not represent an official alternate version.
06Fan interpretations
Her corrections help sustain the conversation rather than shut her friends out. Noticing when she chooses not to object can reveal their rapport more clearly than counting her retorts.
