ABOUT Chen Guo / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Chen Guo appears in Butterfly Blue’s esports novel The King’s Avatar and its animated adaptation. The novel began in 2011 and the animation in 2017; those are work-level dates, not a verified first-appearance chapter for her. She runs Happy’s internet cafe and becomes the team’s proprietor. Chasing Haze is her Launcher account in Glory, while the human Chen Guo keeps a real workplace and a growing group of people functioning.

02Personality and appeal

Her reactions are often more immediate than a professional player’s: excitement at a match, disbelief at an unlikely claim, anger when someone nearby is treated unfairly. That openness gives Happy a life beyond calculating win rates. She loves Glory without possessing professional-level execution. What makes her dependable is less a spectacular move than her willingness to deal with everyday trouble.

03Story journey

After her father’s death, she takes over the cafe. Ye Xiu later arrives as an employee, and a shop that hosts players and match broadcasts becomes the starting point of a team. She initially does not believe this new hire is the famous player she has heard about, creating comedy through unequal information. As she learns his circumstances, her support changes from cheering at a screen to the practical commitment of running a team.

04Relationships

Tang Rou is a close friend and cafe employee who later becomes a professional player. Ye Xiu begins as Chen Guo’s hired cafe manager and then works with her to build Happy; employment, cooperation and trust do not establish a romance. Su Mucheng is a professional she admires as a fan and later someone more directly connected with Happy. Fan, friend and working partner describe different relationships and should remain distinct.

05Versions and visual identity

Brown hair and blue eyes are animation design cues. This page’s fan artwork uses a high ponytail, a green casual jacket and practical clothes to suggest her cafe-owner identity. Hair and colors can vary by adaptation, and one fan outfit should not be presented as her only official costume. Chasing Haze’s weapons and game equipment belong to a separate visual layer. The photographic adaptation and transparent figure here are also unofficial reinterpretations.

06Fan interpretations

If The King’s Avatar is read only as experts winning matches, Chen Guo seems to remain outside the arena. Another reading is that she gives a fresh start a physical home. This is interpretation, not an added plot event: a championship effort needs players and someone willing to care for life beyond practice. Moving from spectator to responsible proprietor offers a form of growth that is not measured by combat skill.
