ABOUT Yelan / 01—06

01First appearance and background

Yelan joined Genshin Impact’s playable roster in 2022 as a five-star Hydro bow character. Her description deliberately leaves a mystery: she claims to work for the Ministry of Civil Affairs, yet is absent from its list. Her listed affiliation is Yanshang Teahouse. The distance between a public identity and her real assignments is central to her appeal.

02Personality and appeal

She describes clues as links in a chain that must be followed back to their beginning, sometimes requiring several identities. Her casual manner is not a lack of preparation. In her voice lines she discusses hereditary limits on her stamina and resting carefully before important assignments. Leisure and concentrated efficiency belong to a rhythm she deliberately manages.

03Story journey

Her investigations extend beyond obvious battlefields. She says she learned useful skills from Millelith scouts and must keep contact with many layers of society to connect scattered information. In combat, her fast-moving lifeline and dice-shaped coordinated attacks echo the feeling of setting a plan before drawing it tight. Her Hydro gameplay complements that intelligence-work identity.

04Relationships

Yelan says she knew Ningguang before the latter became a Qixing and was later recommended for this work by her; Ningguang explicitly expresses deep trust in Yelan. Yanfei is both a friend and a valuable source of leads flowing through legal work. Yelan also praises Keqing’s methodical approach. These specific connections give her network real people rather than a vague secret organization.

05Versions and visual identity

A dark-blue bob, green eyes, a white shoulder jacket and dice ornaments form Yelan’s recognizable silhouette. Her multiple identities serve intelligence work, rather than making every rumor a separate person. Threads and dice also contrast with Ningguang’s golden gems and architectural screen: one moves through hidden channels, while the other commands a visible stage.

06Fan interpretations

She really does roll dice to choose activities on her days off, and likes tea brewed with powdered Jueyun Chili and Violetgrass stamens. That invites a fan image of someone leaving everything to luck. Yet her investigative methods emphasize tracing evidence and preparing carefully. Dice can be a game in daily life without replacing judgment at work, a richer contrast than simply calling her a gambler.
